Your health account is sometimes dripping into the red.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>constant tiredness<\/li>\n<li>low concentration<\/li>\n<li>mood swings<\/li>\n<li>sorrow, sad, anxiety<\/li>\n<li>unfit\/exhausted by exercise<\/li>\n<li>run down\/frequently ill<\/li>\n<li>easily overwhelmed<\/li>\n<li>dissatisfaction<\/li>\n<li>flabby<\/li>\n<li>on\/off motivation<\/li>\n<li>aches and pains\/body issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Horizontally Ill:<\/strong> In overdraft-in the red, in recession\/bankrupt<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>chronic fatigue<\/li>\n<li>troubled\/confused<\/li>\n<li>depression<\/li>\n<li>pessimism<\/li>\n<li>unable to exercise<\/li>\n<li>incapacitated by illness<\/li>\n<li>life is hard work<\/li>\n<li>despair\/life is against me<\/li>\n<li>over fat, under muscled<\/li>\n<li>low motivation levels<\/li>\n<li>feel-bad body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately a growing number of people in our <a title=\"Health And Wellness: The Shift From Managing Illness To Promoting Health\" href=\"http:\/\/justsaynotocancer.com\/articles\/wellness\/health-and-wellness-the-shift-from-managing-illness-to-promoting-health\/\">modern inactive world<\/a> are slowly slipping into the vertically ill-the middle category. Some of the symptoms we may experience are overall lack of enthusiasm for life, a don\u2019t feel well attitude, aches and pains showing up, tired and fatigued most of the time, lack of good sleep, overweight, excessive puffing after little exertion, frequent colds or infections.<\/p>\n<p>Millions worldwide feel like this and many have some sort of chronic condition defined as any long lasting healthy issue that is resistant to a quick fix. In many cases there is a disease lurking in the wings that may have been sneaking up for some time.<\/p>\n<p>Chronic conditions may not land you in the hospital right away but it can claim you as a member of an army of the \u201cwalking wounded\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are two types of illness and disease.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The first is horizontal;<\/em> you are forced to stop normal activity. A bad flu or life threatening condition like a stroke or heart attack, back or knee injury are examples.<\/p>\n<p><em>The second is vertical.<\/em> These include vague complaints about tiredness and feeling unwell right through to chronic degenerative disease. Most disease starts this way&#8230;vertical and then becomes horizontal.<\/p>\n<p>The very apt description of \u201cwalking wounded\u201d was coined for those whose health has deteriorated to the point where the person has early symptoms but they have not yet progressed to the point that a specific disease process can be identified.<\/p>\n<p>There are many people&#8230;many \u201cwalking wounded\u201d that are not well enough to function adequately but are not yet quite sick enough to become \u201chorizontally ill\u201d&#8230;bed bound with a total loss of physical function. They take tests but nothing wrong is discovered and the medical system is baffled.<\/p>\n<p>These unfortunate people suffer from \u201cchronic unwellness\u201d&#8230;a state of limbo between vibrant health and identifiable illness or disease.<\/p>\n<p>If after comparing notes you have found yourself to be in the first column above you are to be congratulated. You are doing a fantastic job of working on maintain a healthy lifestyle.
